If just a ‘proof of concept’ phase 2, could you demonstrate trial intervention’s mortality rate without a control arm, and just compare to recent historical controls? Then at least you have human data to re-evaluate the ethical considerations of randomisation…

I like to ask them what THEY want to learn about. Give them a day or more to think about it, there's no rush to plan. Invite them to think about a syndrome or pathogen which is relevant to a current patient. Then explore what they already know, and build up from there ☺️ #IDSky #MedEd #IDMedEd
