Deep in the compositing mines
It's uneven (what isn't) but I think it's very easy to revisit and holds up better than one might think??

Palestinians call on everyone to sign the Boycott Xbox pledge today. Viable gaming alternatives exist. Genocide is not a game.

Go to nogamesforgenocide.com to sign the pledge and for more details on how to take action.

100%! I guess that's a part of why the AI garbage feels so bad, like it's weaponizing that feeling against you while also making sure there's none of the whimsy that comes with pulling off a magic trick. Thankful and energized whenever I see people doing cool shit in the face of it all!

Like when we were doing [redacted] on Among Us I remember you asking to make sure I made everything in a scene and me being really pleased I was able to wrangle fractal noise in a way that sold an effect convincingly enough to where it needed to be asked. AI just totally ruins that, I think.

Even if you take the "it's just a tool" argument at face value (which nobody should, obviously) I feel like one of the more exhausting things about the AI trash is that they've just totally sapped all the fun out of experimenting with/pushing digital tools.

I just assumed it was cuz it was in a big bag and typically a treat for kids but I never thought too much about the name

I think this all the time about a guy I knew named Alex Jones

The first episode of Shannara Chronicles opened with a bunch of blindfolded elves running directly into trees and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. If the Zelda movie offered anything as funny as that it'd at least have something, but I suspect it won't even have that.

What's nuts is that show basically has an ending and then it has like another 5 episodes after that may as well not exist

Certainly would be a conversation more worth having, I think folks gotta learn to process bosses telling them they're too expensive as just the flat out lie it is but that's a hard nut to crack.

It's executive overhead and shareholder demand that make development unsustainable, and it only benefits those parasitic executives to pit the people buying games against the labor force that makes them. I think it's also why companies are so inconsistent about shielding workers from harassment.

I think this sort of argument stems from a couple consistent places.

1. Executives arguing internally and publicly that making video games at this scale and price point is unsustainable (true).

2. Buying into those same executives' lie that labor costs and stagnating prices are the reason for that

Oh totally, I think I just haven't encountered it used that way as a noun in the wild yet so I have just accepted I'll definitely be confused the first time it comes up in conversation

Am I wrong in thinking the new definition is mostly used as a verb? Like if you said somebody was a goon it'd still be a classic cartoon mob "no problem boss" situation? I'll keep operating under this assumption regardless I think
