I had an excellent holiday in Extremadura with @naturetrek.bsky.social at the end of Feb. It was primarily a birding trip, but two of the highlights were insects: Spanish Festoon and Vagrant Emperor.

I like this photo showing just how big Hawfinches are. I took it yesterday in Wherwell, Hampshire.

I am just back from a successful short birding trip to Estonia, guided by local expert Tarvo Valker @birdinghaapsalu.bsky.social My main target species was Hawk Owl....we had great prolonged views of this bird both perched and hunting.
