Holidays were a period of sadness and reflection as we said goodbye to my Dad. I am very grateful for his long life (he was 92), which gave us the time to build a closer relationship.

I think autonomous embodiment and (naturalized) agency are likely necessary for consciousness, so I’m glad this paper looked at these features. But as they note: computational systems we currently use can only simulate them. Suspect this is a very hard hurdle.
