Oddly I play this 1/10 as often as Low. David Bowie - Heroes (1977)

Gateway drug. David Bowie - Changes One Bowie (1976) Oh, don’t lean on me, man, ‘cause you can’t afford the ticket.

Article I wrote about Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood style raid in NYC 1974-75 came up in a discussion about the genesis of punk rock in U.K. and simultaneous influence on fashion. Article pinned on website, link in comments. Richard Hell and the Voidoids Blank Generation (1977)

This rolling stone gathered no moss in @loueezecee loft for three decades plus kicking around without me in various locations. I’ve not seen this since early eighties. Obviously takes me back to our so-Seventies lounge and the Sony HMK70 Music Centre. I’ve missed you child.

Another twelve days of Christmas candidate. Triple album bang for your buck, happy 45th to The Clash - Sandinista! (1980) Joe sez “Know your rights!”

On the run up to Christmas, 12 great albums that would grace any collection. I pulled this out on the hunt for great bass guitar lines as Dylan is learning bass at school and has bought himself one with an amp. Go D-Man 💥 The White Stripes - Elephant (2002)

What do you do with a mono sleeve? Some mid-Eighties sounds at Cee Acres, Tears For Fears - Songs From The Big Chair (1985) I can’t stand this indecision, married to a lack of vision. Everybody wants to rule the world.

You can see from the background I’ve been up in the loft. Andy Crofts - The Man Who Sold The World & English Summer Live (2023) My review of his local gig is on 45renegade in NME Hip Young Gunslinger prose. English Summer is a catchy tune in a Ray Davies style.

I always flirt with death, I look ill but I don’t care about it. The Only Ones - Another Girl, Another Planet 12” Single (1978) There’s loads of vinyl real estate in the run out groove. 99p on the front, a bargain at 95p from Boots on the back.

I’m on a roll this time. Radiohead - OK Computer (1997) on the big HiFi. You really need to be here for this audiophile delight. When I am king you will be first against the wall, your opinion which is of no consequence at all.

Three-hundred-sixty-five-degrees burning down the house. Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues (1983) already fragmented into Byrne & Eno, Tom Tom Club and Casual Gods you can hear it all in here. The album tour in ‘84 recorded by Jonathan Demme for the Stop Making Sense film.

Hard to beat this 4th December release and Singles Going Steady. Siouxsie and the Banshees - Once Upon a Time / The Singles (1981) Side one is a desert island side one. Will somebody look at me and solve this mystery? The discordant guitar in this is pure post punk.

Made to be played loud at low volume. The Damned - Damned Damned Damned (1977) got to say the debuts by Damned, Clash and Pistols were all bloody good in their own way. Each had their own manifesto later diluted or dissolved, The Damned - blow everything up and leave it to everyone else to clean up.

Latest read. Elvis Costello - Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink. Either a great memory or plenty of diaries. It was obvious from the start he was a pretty good creative writer - see Watching The Detectives. (Cont.)

Today’s tea time treat. 20 Of Another Kind (1979) Polydor’s punk and new wave bandwagon jumping compilation that saved you a fortune on singles you didn’t already own. Beware of the flowers (‘cos I’m sure they’re gonna get you yeh!) so who remembers John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett on Whistle Test?

One of the great Eighties debut albums, Tears For Fears - The Hurting (1983) first three tracks; The Hurting, Mad World, Pale Shelter. All around me are familiar faces. Worn out places, worn out faces.

A conceptual masterpiece from music and lyrics to artwork, not me, Roland Orzabal who quotes this album as the primary influence of Tears For Fears album The Hurting. Japan - Tin Drum (1981) genre wise; art rock, new wave, synth pop and perhaps Bowie-esque with the Adrian Belew sounding guitar.

Neat album from the Cee Acres CD vault with hype sticker and locally-famous Nova price sticker. The Dead 60s S/T (2005) were a noughties English ska punk band from Liverpool. A mixture of punk rock, ska, dub and reggae. Influences; Specials, The Clash, King Tubby, Gang of Four and A Certain Ratio.

Cat walking away from how we knew him at the height of his fame is the second most disappointing early retirement after George Best. Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman (1970) the title track the best one minute song outside punk and new wave. Miles from nowhere I guess I’ll take my time.

Today’s five o’clock hero. A soon to be fifty three year fascination with Norwegian Wood which has always been my favourite since I either bought this album or a present to go with my then new ITT portable record player. The Beatles - 1962-1966 (1973) aka the Red Album.

Today’s tea time treat The Jam - All Mod Cons (1978) just name checked in Elvis Costello’s book (half way through). The title, a British idiom one might find in housing advertisements, is short for “all modern conveniences” and is a pun on the band’s association with the mod revival.

Probably one of the best vinyl albums here. Talk Talk - The Colour Of Spring (1988) This album still stops you in your tracks and a little surface noise only adds to it. Everybody needs someone to live by.
