I love toast, so I’m happy to find it’s mutual! But what topping to place upon its buttered self?

Play... sing... Don't look at the wine... Don't think about alllllll that wine behind you. Wine. Oh! Wine! Forget all that lovely wine! SO MUCH BLOODY LOVELY BLOODY WINE...!

And the song is called 'Take What You Want' 🤯

On my way to a school event my tyre blew on the M40. Standing on the hard shoulder as the artics thundered by, I considered the state of the tyre. 'The task is not impossible,' Optimism cried. 'Maybe you can do it!' 'Possibly,' said Realism hesitantly, 'if by "do it" you mean "call the AA".'

Honestly, the research I have to do for these Astrosaurs books... Fun with old friends at the Beyond the Stars exhibition at Discover Bucks Museum in Aylesbury. Run finishes early October!

Having my son help me write the new Astrosaurs graphic novel has been a lot of fun. Those revamped dinosaurs land at a bookshop near you TODAY! (Carnage two seconds later as dog pounced not pictured)

This was a treat to work on. @paulmagrs.bsky.social and I looked to tell aspects of the TV stories from unusual perspectives. With @anghelides.bsky.social editing it was like Doctor Who should always be – having fun with friends old and new. I only wish I could draw like Paul! It's out Sept 18th.

More sunny melancholia from my band! Wrote the song 25 years ago but it does have a gorgeous new trumpet solo from @garethpjones.bsky.social

I used to read Astrosaurs to my son at bedtime. Now he’s helping to write them while I go to bed!

Up in Beverley for library events and found haul of 80s 200ADs in the charity shop. Proper Proustian rush of discovery!

There comes a time in everyone's life when they must seek out the filming locations for Inferno. Thus, @jasonloborik.bsky.social and I journeyed to Kent's Kingsnorth Industrial Estate and learned that only this small building, driven past by Bessie in ep 1, still survives. No gasometers. Rubbish!

Played a covers set in the heat at Berkhamsted Beer Fest last night. Closed on Love Will Tear Us Apart (but the sweat held us together)

New Target Doctor Who novelisations wot I edited! You’ll need just 5.4cm of shelf space for fresh trips in time and space.

60 years ago, Maureen O'Brien was playing Vicki in Doctor Who – and she's still involved today, most recently reading stories for the audio version of my book with @paulmagrs.bsky.social '1001 Nights in Time and Space', out in September. A treat to meet her and a treat to listen in!

I really regret buying a Sad Daddy scrub thing. The regular Scrub Daddy looked too happy to be where he was, it felt like abuse. But the Sad Daddy has turned washing up, already a rubbish experience, into a poignant and slightly distressing one. Especially when air fryers are involved.

I’ve been taking a loved one into hospital for daily radiotherapy. There’s a jigsaw in the waiting room and each day I see how it’s progressed and add a few more pieces. All these strangers working together, and each day the jigsaw nudges closer to being made whole. I find it oddly moving.

I love that Doctor Who is a shared universe across its tie-ins. We referenced the Lucky Day episode almost a year ahead of transmission with this mention in the novel CAGED from @unamccormack.bsky.social and name-checked Think Tank in last November's in-world UNIT dossier The Gold Archive
