World’s 414th oldest Nerdfighter (perpetually). Still hopeful, even if it’s a bit harder after 11/5/2024. Runner, reader, writer, environmental political wonk. High school English teacher by day. Dad to world’s two best daughters all the time.
77 yesterday. 79 today. Called on the carpet today. Good-bye, Kintsugi. We hardly knew ye.

77 degrees this afternoon. Not bad, but not ideal for December 17th.

Happy Holidays, all!

At Lake Perris SRA for the Moreno Valley Runners Jingle Bell 10k. This makes Holiday Season officially here. Fire up!

Hard to beat Sundowning in the desert in December.
December 10, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Elt good, maybe started a bit overly enthusiastic. Slowed second half, didn’t walk.
December 9, 2025 at 1:34 AM
Dark but otherwise perfect. Cool, no wind to speak of.
December 6, 2025 at 1:48 AM
Won’t run this direction at night again—too many oncoming headlights. Otherwise not bad.

Forty-five or so years later, it still hits me every time I see one of these, and I can smell the Jitterbug Perfume, taste the perfect taco, hear those Cowgirl Blues. Thank you, Dr. Robbins. Balance, not symmetry.

Just finishing up the month. Foot feels ouchy today.
December 1, 2025 at 12:31 AM
Days rest and the back is (almost annoyingly) nearly back to normal. Need to start working for it, though. Just jogging is not the way.
November 29, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Yesterday’s back trouble resurfaced 300 yards in and I walked most of the first half. By then it had loosened up enough to jog—somewhat painfully—to finish. But I did finish.

A little sore, a little tired; walked for a phone call from Mickey in Gorman on her way home, and that made it easier to walk after the call was over. Leaves change from green to pastel yellow to brown.

Beautiful fall day, so everybody’s out, including this guy. Didn’t walk, so, happy.
November 23, 2025 at 10:20 PM
Slow steady jog after a busy wet week kept me off the road. Glad for this vacation week.
November 22, 2025 at 7:21 PM
After a wet weekend, today stayed dry though cloudy. Great weather for an easy five miles.
November 18, 2025 at 1:51 AM
Definitely a trudge, but happy to get the run in with a wet week ahead.
November 15, 2025 at 1:54 AM
Still pretty warm for mid-November, but I’ve had autumns that felt a lot worse.
November 13, 2025 at 1:40 AM
Night falls fast.
November 11, 2025 at 1:52 AM
Some biker/jogger got back to their car on the way to a really bad day.
November 8, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Feeling good.
November 6, 2025 at 1:45 AM
First run after the clocks change is always dramatic. Nice evening.
November 5, 2025 at 1:31 AM
Short run after spending the day in L.A. for the #Dodgers’ parade. Good times.
