Tonight's spooky season show was an unexpected Halloween episode of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, guest starring Natasia Demetriou of What We Do in the Shadows series fame - although not as a vampire. Silly, fun, supernatural.

Another recently-watched for spooky season movie is The Bat (1959). A murder mystery writer rents a house as a writing retreat, but a serial killer called The Bat murdered people there recently and hasn't been caught. Vincent Price plays a medical doctor and friend of the rental's owner.

I'm between sets two and three of nineteen in the 24hour Ragas Live stream, so to continue spooky season an extra movie I watched this week was Slotherhouse (2023).

A nice young woman in college decides to run against the incumbent-and-forever Mean Girl for the sorority presidency, but... 1/n

Tonight's spooky season movie was Brooklyn 45. Five US military veterans gather in late December 1945 for a seance and realize the war isn't over as much as some of them want it to be.

Tonight's spooky season movie is Attachment (2022). Two women meet, fall in love, and move in with one of the pair's intense and superstitious mother. A very sweet romance combined with secrets, sacrifice, and a lot of salt. Great performances from the two leads and two supporting cast.

I had the roof replaced (and the chimney shell redone) over the last week. They cautioned me that because they were throwing the old shingles off the roof into a garbage skip, the area I park in shouldn't be used until they picked up all the shingle fragments with old nails in them.

Tonight's spooky season movie was From Black (2023). A man tells a grieving mother how she can bring her child back with a ritual. Of course, he's not telling everything he knows.

For the intersection of spooky season and Indigenous Peoples Day, may I recommend Never Whistle At Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology? I'm about halfway through it at the moment and have liked everything I've read so far.

Tonight's spooky season movie was The Innocents (2022), in which a group of kids in an apartment complex show each other their psychic abilities. Things get bad. Chilling, intense, excellent.

Double feature?
Let The Right One In (2008, Swedish original), or
Village of the Damned (1960)

Tonight's spooky season movie was The Substance (2025), which I think of as a Jekyll & Hyde story by way of The Portrait of Dorian Gray, Sunset Boulevard, Re-Animator, and Brian Yuzna’s Society.

Double feature with: The Neon Demon.
