They pay the same tax as petrol cars already. This pay per mile tax is an extra tax on top of the vehicle tax.

I've married into an Irish family so I'm aware of how badly the English treated the Irish. That part of history has been glossed over, even calling it 'The Troubles' is downplaying what was (is?) essentially a civil war.

Estimates are that ~3000 Muslim women wear them in the UK. I doubt she's seen many in real life, let alone had someone wearing one to a surgery!

If the parents are paying for school meals then it does work out at ~£500 a year savings. If the kids currently have packed lunches then it would be significantly less, but still a saving for the parents.
