When you're opponent starts playing aggresively early in the game it might be a good idea to be aggressive, too. There's always a chance to take the lead with a handful of smaller wins in succession.

*Or when the round's almost over and you're still not at Tenpai yet. When you're at a lead, you play more aggressiv (for less points). When you're behind, tough luck. Try to score with a high Yaku count and Riichi. Playing it save is bad bc losing at this point doesn't really change anything anyways
