Winning became a personal defense mechanism because it's not that I hated losing - I hated getting DRAGGED for losing. But I'm also ambitious and incredibly successful academically and professionally. Maybe it's something parents do to spur their kids or perhaps they're just assholes, but it worked.

I was good enough to play chess competitively in HS and college. The thing is I was never personally competitive and didn't care about actually winning or losing. Yet in college friends hated playing games against me because i'd wipe the floor with them most the time, no matter the game. (2/3)
