Affirming language in mathematics is a must. For students not typically viewed as talented in math, it dispels stereotypes about who is and isn’t talented in math. Kids internalize everything and using affirming language in the classroom at an early age can be a game changer for a lot of students.

I love how this activity requires students to explain their thinking and not regurgitate facts.
