After initial confusion over the NBA All Stars coverage, Grand Slam was announced as taking that Saturdays Collision's slot on TNT. On Reddit a thread called ‘Feeling Scammed by AEW Grand Slam Australia. The PPV is now a Collision TV Taping’ has over 1K comments.

Grand Slam started as a stadium show, with some wondering if the company was being too ambitious. It then became an arena show as the venue was downgraded due to low ticket sales. Though never announced as a PPV, the expectation was there from fans, especially those who had spent $$$ on tickets
