If he plays like an all star they could leverage the team option to get a discount on a longer term deal. Though it seems much more likely they trade him mid-season and make it someone else's problem.

I'd rather have a low sperm count than a high worm count.

In theory, as much as ~$6.3m if they filled two of the 14 roster spots with 2RPE. But that assumes Kuminga takes $20m. No idea how likely that is at this point.

If they can stay healthy and either Podz or Moody makes a leap, we could land a top 6 seed and potentially contend.

Either Kuminga accepts his role with the contract settled, or (more likely) we move him at the deadline after spending half the season figuring out what the team still needs.

This aged well! Updated take:

- Horford: TPMLE
- Melton: Vet min
- Kuminga: Re-signed
- One other vet min (Bol Bol? Richaun Holmes?)

Not as much progress as HOU/LAC/DEN, but good patches on a team that went 23-7 after the deadline.

I truly hope i am off the internet in three years lol. But maybe the loser can buy a beer when I visit some pals in SLC =)

That will be an interesting claim to revisit in three years!

I personally would have moved Lauri for a huge package when he was tradable. If the franchise player is going to be a 19 year old taken in of the next two or three drafts, then Lauri will be too old by the time they're ready.

Maybe not, but they should be able to sweeten the pot enough to get a contributing player on a rookie contract. Doesn’t have to be Kessler to make this sequence worth it.

That said, I do think it would be worth it for the Jazz to make this trade. I wouldn’t want Kessler to end up like Lauri.

It's a tricky situation. If a deal with Beal goes public that would hard cap them at the 1st apron, then they lose all their leverage with Kuminga.
This would explain why it's been so slow- once they can get a handshake with Beal, they are free to sell low on Kuminga (JK + FRP for Kessler).

Bench ends up being:

Guards:
Podz, Melton

Wings:
Buddy, Moody

Bigs:
Horford, QP, TJD

Fills every glaring need:
- Scoring, shooting
- Size to deal with double big lineups.
- Rim protection
- Depth

Rotation ends up:
Starters: Steph, Beal, Jimmy, Draymond, Kessler

Who cares about POA defense when you have that kind of back line?
