Ran into a riding buddy who works for NOAA here in Seattle. She said 19 people in her office lost their jobs for no good reason. Their funding has been cut and they’ve been instructed not to do anything.

8th grade student gov. pres. makes a phone call using my classroom phone. He’s standing with the receiver to his ear and a puzzled look on his face.
Me: What’s up?
Him: I think there’s a robot on the other end of the phone.
Me: A robot? <takes phone and puts to ear>
Friends, it was a dial tone. 🤦♀️
