Today the namesake of my oldest daughter would have been 100.

Ella Mae Sutherland was a force well into her 80s.

She lived through the depression, the death of her husband, the death of her daughter, & she raised my amazing wife.

Amid an unsettled week, I'm thinking of her strength.

In the mail today …

Perhaps an important step, but also a reminder of the steps we could have taken years ago when the opioid crisis was driven by prescription opioids - today it is not. Illicitly produced fentanyl is. Treatment for opioid use disorder remains out of reach for too many.
