Stood on a polished marble table is an empty clear cup with a domed clear lid. A straw is sat in the empty cup and a few ice cubes are sat at the bottom. The cup and lid are plastic, the straw is paper.

This is not what I intended.
I began by thinking about how some subjects and people are inescapable, even in a space where I would otherwise find respite, like in poetry. This is where that thought led.

I hit the word limit a few times so I took screenshots:
I’m not a professional by any means and I do like the fact that you’ve written a response poem which is so faithful to its inspiration. Just a few thoughts: ‘Inane’ is such a good word choice and such an abrupt repost to the other poem. I like this. ‘Fantastical’ means ‘remote from reality’, and overall the second line is a bit ‘clunky’. I wonder if you can keep the form and the meaning by replacing ‘fantastical’ with a word like ‘remote’ or ‘removed’? ‘Entirely’ and ‘completely’ are synonymous, whereas the inspiring poem uses adverbs with different meanings and their second line ‘hits’ a bit more sharply. Their ‘perfectly’ drips of sarcasm. Could you find a way to do something similar with a different word choice? I think that the work that ‘fantastical’ is meant to do is to bring a bit of sharpness, but for the reasons I stated above I think you should drop that word. ‘Imagine’; something imagined can still become true, whereas ‘pretend’ suggests a level of self delusion (“cope”). Imagining is a tool needed for ‘hope’ (noun), so if this is supposed to skewer the position of a progressive, it kind of misses. However, maybe using ‘hope’ as a verb here is a more scathing choice? As hope alone won’t bring equity, and there’s the implied accusation that there’s little else but hope. Your last line is fire! ‘Arriving’ underscoring the passivity of the subject of the poem, ‘any moment’ contrasting just how long ‘equity’ has been absent. Is anyone using one of these or similar to grow moss indoors? Do you have photos or (better) a link to a ‘how to’? I’d very much Apple image some help making these prettier.
