Ganz gets this right. Too many people on the Left now toss around the word "Nazi" when they should just say "bigot" or "fascist," and it's going to be crucial to accurately reserve it for the bluntly antisemitic faction on the Right.

These are really great points and very characteristic of the kind of "both-sideism" that moderate Christian conservatives engage in. There's a real fear of engaging with "you know the ones" issues with an open mind either because a) their own minds might change or b) they might be ostracized.

Before finding this book, I thought of CRT as a "legal theory," but the authors make a strong case that it is also a theological theory. For instance, Derrick Bell's "racial realism" was an adaptation of Niebuhr's Christian realism, which he encountered through pastor/mentor Jefferson Rogers.

There's a whole theology going on in the church elders' response to the arrest of their pastor for alleged conduct with a minor.

I still cannot believe so many people just went ahead and acted like this didn't happen.

The position of the official quoted here is abysmal. This is consistent tactic of abusers and their defenders, to blur the line between common human sin and horrific abuse, to ask "who are you to throw the first stone" at men who rape children. The victims advocates are correct.

Most of this thread is really good, and I share the overall goal of saving the humanities, but this BlackRock COO is either lying or unable to sway how hiring goes at his firm. Here are the kinds of things they actually look for in some of the less STEM-heavy positions they're hiring for.

Another early thought: the notion of "indiscriminate criticism without any positive aims" was vividly applied to a lot of the contemporary left in this now-classic rendering by Contrapoints.

There's something incredibly unnerving about this coming from a former pillar of nonpartisan bureaucracy. There's no sense of obligation to the public here, just whatever builds up the personality cult.

I probably shouldn't read the comments on articles about this, but, wow... this is the kind of person who considers countless others to be "lost."

Not great that Christian fascists are marching in the streets. But also this guy in the crowd is not exactly "standing for truth" by speaking on behalf of "Gen Z."
