If someone made LLM or image generation models that just produced Disney-like scripts and characters, would *that* suddenly spur some legislation behind acceptable use of copyrighted material to protect artists, writers, bloggers, coders, etc?
Use the system to fight the system?

This boss just casually breaking a billion in Jaws pinball. Didn't even care for the applause at the end. How far has this gent actually gotten??

I'd like to thank everyone who made a starter pack. The stats/academic/ML research community was so strong on the site that shall not be named. I hadn't worked up the energy to find everyone from that community, but now bsky is looking a whole lot like the best of times on Xitter.

Stalker 2 + VR works on Linux.
Welp, I'll never see the light of day again.

Simulation remains one of the single best methods I've learned for either stats or coding. A mix of statistical theory, simulation, good code practices, and domain knowledge can take you really far on hard tasks.
Had a huge win today because of that skill. Feels good.

Linux-friendly configuration tool for the Akai LPD8 Mk2 midi controller. This was a fun 3-evening hackathon.
All this, because I wanted to configure my midi pads as foot pedals for my multi-effect raspberry pi project, and I don't like windows.

Haven't done this since I had a Gameboy GameShark. Learning hex codes so I can write my own editor for the Akai LPD8 mk2.

Not enough people sanity check their data, and it shows.

It should be second nature for people who have scientific backgrounds, but it's not, and that puzzles me even more. How can you reason about anything without being confident in the data's integrity and adherence to some assumed process?

This is why I have always loved the Linux community.

Ollama is awesome. Got it integrated into a web UI, phone app, a personal discord bot, and my editor. Even have it talking to me with stt and tts. Getting close to having it call functions and write itself code if it can't answer itself. Local LLMs are actually great tools.

Seriously, knowing probability algebra/rules is a superpower. A couple of testable assumptions, a few sources of data to patch in, and you can back into so many unknown things.
Like a fun puzzle, that so happens to solve a rather major data problem for measuring a big entity.

Indeed! We were surprised by how small it is in our pinhole projection.

It works so far! In lieu of a touchscreen, it hosts a vnc server of the interface, so can use tablet for now to adjust the amp sim.
Works great!
Onto using sway, so config apps can be put on other workspaces and accessed easily.
Then small audio interface and midi, then touchscreen and a big case.

In my effort to find something more positive to do with my time, just ordered a raspberry pi, and will be using it to hack together a virtual effects board for guitar. No idea why I haven't played with RPis for years at this point. I'm a linux nerd who likes tiny and old computers.

It's 2023. Mobile sites are still the most obnoxious technology out there. Reading? HOW ABOUT YOU LOGIN? No? Nvm.

Ok, HERE ARE TWO ADS THAT HAVE THE WORLDS SMALLEST CLOSE BUTTON THAT BARELY WORK OR TAKE YOU TO THE SITE ANYWAY. THESE ADS WILL LEAVE YOU WITH ABOUT ONE CM OF VIEWING WINDOW.

Request: What are some corners, topics, media, communities, etc online that are positive, cheer you up, make you feel good, good vibes, etc.

I'm realizing I have a lot of neutral and negative exposures online, and I really need some positive online to offset that.
