As June wraps up, I gotta say we were blessed with two phenomenal action films. Scott Adkins absolutely delivers an onslaught of cinematic kicks in DIABLO, and Ana de Armas stuns with some breathtaking action choreography in BALLERINA. Easily two of my favorites films this year!

Remember when Jaws took over pop culture after its release? Celebrate the 50th anniversary by diving into Sharksploitation, now streaming on Shudder!

Saw this on Peacock and it made me wish there really were 50 Jaws sequels, because I’d probably love every single one.

Loved Dangerous Animals, so dope to see a shark film on the big screen again. Jai Courtney eats up every scene he’s in with a knife and fork!

Takashi Miike has 120 directing credits on IMDb. Lumberjack the Monster is on Netflix and it’s dope, barely anyone cared when it dropped! It’s wild seeing people complain now when most haven’t even scratched the surface of his work. The man’s an auteur. Let him do his thing!

The Dead Thing is both haunting and atmospheric look at dating in L.A. If you're a listener of the Pure Cinema Podcast, you'll know that director Elric Kane made a signature "Elric Kane" movie.

One of the best performances I’ve seen all year—right up there with Demi Moore! Absolutely phenomenal.

This filmmaker and this movie changed my life. Rest in peace, David Lynch. Your body of work will continue to be studied, celebrated, and loved forever.

Kraven the Hunter feels like a comic book movie made by Nu Image/Millennium Films in the early 2000s— which isn’t a bad thing for me. I dug it.
