You’ve probably seen this in the other places I’ve shared it, but I’m bringing back my old music blog. I’m working on lining up some interviews with artists and musicians and helping arrange a show at Oxbow in Portland. More to come! Most stuff will be over on factoryportland.com and Instagram.

Today's accidental double feature: 3/4 of the main cast of "Halt and Catch Fire" in "Speak No Evil" and "The Fall." Sorry Kerry Bishé, not today!

I recently watched Alice Maio Mackay’s “Carnage for Christmas” (big fan of Jeremy Moineau) and “The People’s Joker” by @veradrew22.bsky.social. Both are low budget films by filmmakers who are trans and show you can tell an effective story if you’re passionate, creative, and resourceful!

Don’t get me wrong, I really like those elements on their own. If you’re picking up where one movie begins, you can’t drop the ball and not have them align more closely. The sets were great, especially the dance sequence, as was Julia Garner… it was just missing the flair of the original.

There are some things I really liked stylistically about Apartment 7A. It did help to go back and look at Rosemary’s Baby. The thing I find confusing is why they went to the trouble of recreating so much, but missing the mark with things like clothing, hair, and makeup.

Burying the lede, no?
