I'm chuffed to have a piece of flash fiction 'In Decay' published by online Canadian publisher CommuterLit - perfect for your short commute.

I'm particularly pleased because it's one of my recent favourites.

Look what arrived today - my copy of my new novella Brain Fruit. I got #1 of a 500 hand-numbered limited edition from L'il Factory. Totally beautiful with its hessian like hard cover - its a far-future story printed in an old-fashioned way.

Due on 1 Sept '25

Oh, the irony. Protest against big-tech @ King's Cross days after release of novel that starts with protest at King's Cross against big-tech.

There were authors and the press, but Meta locked doors and no squeak from govt.

It is with some irony that I plan to protest at the Meta offices today in King's Cross London about stealing of copyright material to train their AI. The irony? My new novel, We Are Not Anonymous, opens in King's Cross with a protest against big-tech oligarchs - you couldn't make it up, as they say.

"I loved both Beth and Naomi as characters, with their complex lives and relationships being explored against the wider political situation [.] lots of heartbreaking scenes which were heightened by the incredible world-building, setting everyday life events in a terrifying future"

A great example of where a grammar mistake actually makes the statement much more profound.

Consider:

* tension between wanting every crime prosecuted v. lower taxes
* is human bias or machine bias better (bias will always be there)
* can automated systems eradicate disastrous effects of human ego in righting wrongful convictions

It's that moment when a new novel peaks its head out of the hole to reveal its cover, ahead of publication day (31 March 2025)...

Some more thoughts on how to rethink what we mean by utopia into something that might just be possible...

(PS I regret the title of the post as it's a bit misleading)

The blog tour begins with a review that concludes: "The descriptive skill of this author makes it easier to imagine the unimaginable. Mr. Oram's creative power is remarkable and this collection of short stories offers a unique peek into a possible future.

Always a pleasure to receive a contributor copy. I really enjoyed writing "In the Lap of the Synth" & look f'd to reading this book that's a mix of fiction and academic.
