Certainly the Sharon Tate aspect is the weakest point of the film, but sometimes I like a plotless meander if it’s entertaining enough. I’d be interested in your thoughts on Battle.

Ah that’s interesting, I really loved him in Hollywood, although I’m not a big QT fan at all. But absolutely, he has it all. What did you make of him in One Battle?

Yes for sure. Look at Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and One Battle After Another. He is hilarious in both. Although of course he is blessed with being able to work exclusively with some of the best writers these days.

Incredible. The hilarity of that scene and the devastation of that final bedroom scene shows the strength of those actors. I might have to watch this over Christmas!

It’s an incredible frenetic wild ride, but then it slows everything right down for the last 20 minutes or so, things suddenly becomes serous and desperately unfunny, and Scorsese flips the mirror at the audience and we are forced to reckon with what we just laughed at for 150 minutes. Masterful!

No-one wants to be the first, or even the second. Therefore, the bravery of Da Silva and Brunold cannot be understated. It makes it easier for the third.

The scenes after the Irish and Scottish victories are like a tonic in this shitty world. As everyone seems to be clamouring to get back to club football, I long to stay in this warmer, less cynical place. Club football is a cold world.

They will never go back to one week but could see them compromising and going to 9/10 days, getting that first weekend in. Nobody wants it, least of all the players. I think pressure will tell eventually. I hope so.

Stearns made it to the semis in Rome and has only won one singles match since, and that was to a 17 year old in Eastbourne. Pretty brutal run of results from her after what was her big breakthrough.
