02/1000, Watercolor: I see my experiences reflected in a tree: broken limbs, broken dreams, bent posture, aches, and pains, while new growth signifies the nurturing self, new ideas, and hope. Follow me on my quest to paint one thousand bonsai trees. #botanicalart #bonsaitree #watercolor #bonsai

There are two astronauts stuck in space orbit. The four-day mission turned into months; if they are rescued, it won’t be until next year. While many on Earth look upward and out toward a supposed heaven, I reckon the stranded gaze down at the blue globe and say, that’s it- heaven down below.

Burnt Umber, 10 x 14 inches.

Whatever you do, don't read too many books. Just don’t do it. Don't expose yourself to infinite complexity. Keep it simple. Make it simple. Nothing is complex. Existence is cut and dried. Simple. Keep it simple. Everything is just this or that. Friends don't let friends read too many books.

I usually invent figures from my imagination, but the model for Echo is a woman named Tania in Ukraine who is also a visual artist. She sent me some shapes to paint. For the duration of this painting, I contemplated her situation living in a war zone.

Faye does not exist outside this painting. Initially, I drew her in Photoshop. Photoshop is also a drawing tool; many illustrators use it that way. Her name is Faye because that’s the name of the song I was listening to at the time.
