Working on a 2.5d tilemap system. It appears to the player as a classic 2d 16x16 grid, but behind the scenes it's generating meshes from a depth texture and using a custom camera projection that distorts the Y and Z axes to make things 'look right' from a 2d perspective. #gamedev #bevy

just a selfie of me at night at my apartment/airbnb in Brazil. the locals shower 2-5 times per day, and I found myself doing the same as it's hot and humid always trying my first "pudim" (pronouned pu-díng)—kind of like a flan or creme caramel, with a coffee caramel sauce the Real, the Brazilian currency, features animals instead of presidents. Buying ingredients to make Chili, a dish that no one in Brazil seems to have ever tried, for my friends.

It was here that I ended up trying my first moqueca, my first açaí, and Guaraná Jesus, a sort of local banana-guaraná soda that I really liked.

About an hour outside the city of Recife, Porto de Galinhas (Port of Chickens) was one of three beaches I got to visit in the northeast of Brazil and probably the most tourist-heavy. #brasil #recife #portodegalinhas

We went to a Portuguese bakery that had a few gluten free options. I honestly don't remember everything I tried but it was all good! Brazilians may be surprised to hear we don't have Fini products in the US (that I know of). I was obsessed with these, especially the "Beijos" (Kisses, gummy candy with flavor of strawberries and cream) Lizards in the city Another view of Boa Viagem with the apartments and condos in the background. A lot of vendors on the beaches here, but honestly my favorite was just the boiled corn on the cob. Corn on the cob on the beach is a combo I didn't know I needed.

Finally getting around to going thru some pics from #Brazil. I was avoiding using my phone in public but managed to snap a few pics. These were from my first day arriving alone (before my friends arrived). I got to try my first Brazilian dish, Tapioca com queijo coalho. More details in the alt text.
Skyscraper condos of Recife from my Uber. Most Americans have probably never heard of Recife, yet it has as many people as my entire state (Oregon)—and is still only the 9th largest city in Brazil. The buildings are all very plain and nearly identical looking, covered with cheap white ceramic tiles to protect from the humidity. Fortunately, the rain only lasted this first day, and I got to enjoy the sun for the rest of my two weeks there. Tapioca com Queijo Coalho ("Rabbit" Cheese, not actually made from rabbits). A "tapioca" is a kind of dry, airy tortilla/flatbread made from tapioca flour and fried—usually with Brazilian cheeses and meat. It was genuinely unlike anything I've eaten, and this would be my first of many tapiocas, as it ended up being one of my favorite dishes there. Just me my first night in the apartment, adjusting to the humidity "Letreiros" (giant place name signs) are particularly, perhaps unusually, popular in Brazil. There were at least 2 in the airport for the state, several throughout the city itself, several for every district in the city and even the smallest of municipalities and townships all seem to have at least one. Instagram culture seems even bigger here than in the US, and it's practically obligatory to take your photo by some large 3D letters whenever you go anywhere new.

I’m not a fan of them on the profile page. A lot of folks put time into the design of their grid and the overlays really detract. It’s tempting to just make it an option, but many creatives want to be able to control how their work is *presented*, not just how they see others’.
