I’m not sure if it directly counts as indie, but I really love The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. My more objectively indie pick would be StarVaders — a really good scifi roguelike

In the case of Tales of Xillia, I don’t think the game was designed around that dlc, but yeah it’s always a weird example of monetization. It implies the game itself is a waste of time lol

Yeah it’s almost always ignorable, but sometimes charging for exp items creates this uneasy feeling while playing it like “do they expect me to get these?” Whenever I hit a difficulty spike in Tales of Arise, it bothered me that at every save point there was a shop link for power ups

I’m pumped to play this game but I agree. Tales specifically is weirdly bad with this.
