Waiting for a response from agents is a mixed blessing. I'm anxious to hear back but it also gives me time to work on other parts of the writing platform.

Submitted queries today for Lawless Broken Dreams. It has been a long journey to get to this to this point, and the journey is far from over.

Prepare the writing platform and I thought writing the novel was hard. This all may not stick or be too much but its progress:

Research tells me Instagram is the most popular platform for my ideal readers. I think I spent way too much time working on my first trial post for Instagram:

Finished reading The Last True Poets of the Sea. It was a good coming-of-age book. Below is the link to my review in Goodreads:

I may have found another good comp; The Last True Poets of the Sea. I'm only on Chapter 3 but so far it tracks and is a fun story.

As I've rapidly tried to find comps for my work-in-progress novel, I think I may have the tiniest inkling of what an editor/agent may go through.

I've applied a variety of searches to find lists, only to find myself reading what turns out to be about the first 50 pages of possible candidates.

Well, maybe it's not waiting as much as I thought. I can continue to find comps for my book. I found a few, but they were quite dated (previous century). 🤣

Finding something that is no more than four or five years old is turning out to be more of a challenge than I thought.

Sometimes that's what I need to embrace. My copy editor is reviewing my submission text.

“I have only made this letter longer because I have not had the time to make it shorter." - Blaise Pascal, 1657

That kind of sums up the effort of creating marketing material such as a blurb, logline and query letter for a book.

As a recovering perfectionist, putting together my writer platform makes me twitchy.

Ideas - Easy; Writing - harder; Polishing - Even harder; Selling - Really hard.

I think it has taken more time for me to try to figure out my writing platform and prepare to market my writing.
