Hodgesia sp 157 from Yirrkala NT, Australia.
The genus is characterised by short, apparently one-jointed palpi, flat scales on the head, and long lateral vein scales on the wings with marked lateral spines.

Australian Magpie 'Gymnorhina tibicen' This ones from Adelaide earlier this year, as it they do not occur in Darwin. their calls are what make the Australian bush

Pied Heron (Egretta picata) seen Darwin in northern Australia, these are small herons with dark slaty wings, white neck & throat, and a striking crest in breeding plumage. Feeds mainly on insects in wetlands & mangroves.

White-breasted Woodswallow 'Artamus leucorynchus' not related to true swallows. Instead, they belong to the family Artamidae, that is butcherbirds, currawongs and the Australian magpie.

I am excited today to bring you a Rainbow Pitta 'Pitta iris' my 46th #BirdsSeenIn2025 and a new record for me!
Well worth the walk to East Point for butterflies (that was a bust)
Its taken a while as this is usually a shy bird even though its apparently quite common
