Living in Lowestoft, Scottish, interested in politics, used to be considered a centrist but in the world today probably seen as a dangerous left wing extremist. Enjoy hope and humour, try not to be offensive and usually succeed.
I think it's bound to have some positive impact, coupled with decent PR it would at least make results more democratic when currently 20% share of a 30% turnout can get you what should be an important job in local govt. It wouldn't cure apathy but it would at least be a positive choice

It wouldn't have been hard to say what he believes. Courts can't rule on beliefs, only what those beliefs allow you to do. I might believe in God, a court can't make that belief illegal only the limits on any actions that belief leads me to take.

I am curious how exclusively lesbian groups police membership, is a lesbian who once slept with a man excluded? Unless I've missed the news I don't think there is a biology based test for being a lesbian so I guess they just self ID as such? Most of the LGB lot aren't any kind of gay but that's ok?

I worry they are doing more harm than good but I think it's a sign of the world in chaos that I'm still grateful to have a normal shit govt that we can boot out if there is a better option or might even change tack with enough pressure

Luckily they both share an inability to work with anyone except toadies and Farage has the upper hand in that he has some popular appeal to a section of voters which Cummings really doesn't.

I used to give Andrew Neil the benefit of the doubt, in the BBC days at least I thought he was a clever interviewer who would spank all politicians with equal relish. It took a while to realise what an amoral nob he is but by the time the orange clown appeared in politics I was much more on the ball

Yes, it was worth a shot, we've heard for years Trump responds to flattery and listens to the last person in the room, unfortunately he's filled his room with Putin loving, democracy hating shits. Hopefully behind the scenes European leaders now at least can be sure the USA won't defend any of us

I think it's great to find something useful for King Charles to do and I'm sure Scotland will give Trump the welcome he deserves...

I resisted watching as I was braced for embarrassment but I trust your point of view so glad he managed not to appear a fool admiring the orange emperor's new clothes and apparently found a use for the king! Win win! Maybe King Charles could give him Andrew as a gift when he visits.

I'm sure he'll get a lovely warm welcome....

My brother in law who is German/ British bought his when Elon Musk was just considered eccentric, he's selling now. Sad that what started as doing a good thing for global warming is now a danger to the planet. Surely he has enough money to disappear to Mars by now

I'm a fan but it's very irresponsible to make false and misleading claims like this. Decades of research went into making this impossible. Fake news!

Amazing how a statement that should be standard from any respectable British politician now seems heroic.
I remember when eat the rich was the slogan, now the rich are trying to eat democracies.

I missed seeing the show and the abuse. What was that all about? Have we gone so far backwards since Lily Savage presented the show? Shame on the haters

I rather like being asked to reach the top shelf, I take it as a compliment. Doesn't doing someone a tiny favour make most people feel good about themselves? If nothing else my resting face obviously doesn't say scary unapproachable grump

I think the pundits and public got used to PMs changing every couple of years or months, it became the Tory way of doing a reset. It's much more exciting to see every drama as a crisis

It's actually only in England you have prescription charges, none in Scotland, Wales or NI

Ha ha well it's a bit more poetic than 'we are all doooomed '

I'm sorry but if I see your mate Stephen Mulhern presenting another programme I will be vibing him off the end of a pier.

I thought it sounded like a great idea, let's face it no one is going to get much out of Trump and Mandelson can probably toady enough to stop him having a toddler tantrum and being an ambassador he will have to be a bit more discreet with his 'helpful advice' for the UK govt.

Local govt is a mess, we have 3 councils, I would bet I couldn't find anyone in town who knows who does what and few who could name any local councillor. Counties are an historic anachronism.

You see if you're from Scotland you would be thinking whit? There is no r in sauce and it's a different vowel sound

Bikes are great but for a lot of less healthy people or if you want to get slightly bulkier shopping surely a mobility scooter type vehicle you could rent and park like the city bikes would help. The electric scooters I'm not so keen on and not great for the less able
