Yesterday I was minibus driver for a school trip to the stables with students at our Phoenix Centre in Hinckley, part of the Children's Hospital School. Very few volunteers to muck out, so I picked up a fork and got stuck in. Secretly enjoyed it & a highlight of the week to do something different!

10 years now at The Children's Hospital School Leicester as head.
From 3 provisions in 2015 to 5 provisions in 2025, with a couple of outstanding inspections on the way.
Lots of exciting plans to develop further so certainly not bored. Huge thanks to everyone along the journey who have help.

Leicester Children’s Hospital School has been awarded a Silver Award for quality & culture of professional development by TDT.
Coaching has been rolled out across the whole school & the outdated performance related pay concept was replaced with a ‘professional growth’ model in September 2024

Children at the Leicester Royal Infirmary have enjoyed finding out about Chinese New Year this week. Our students had lots of fun learning about the customs & traditions of Chinese New Year - Year of The Snake. There was lots of excitement on the ward as they discovered their Chinese zodiac animal.

2025 starting positively at Leicester Children’s Hospital School with the opening of our new classroom block. Also developed a Thrive and nurture hub within the main building.
All of this to increase capacity so we can best meet needs of the growing number of young people being referred to us.
