@jeremyhopkin.bsky.social Jeremy, any clue where these Toronto stadiums are located? Mid century. That "Olympia" building in second image is most baffling. Anything look familiar? #toronto

Skydome in Toronto is built over the 1874 public water pumping facility which had to be moved for construction, the foundations of which are still under the field. We might have ya beat!

It was safer to be a soldier in the deadliest war in human history than to have been a child in a Canadian Residential School:

Directly from Dr. Peter Bryce's report about Residential Schools in Canada. Just sobering and shocking numbers that were known very early into the Dominion's RS policy:

Some interesting facts to share around for National Day of Truth & Reconciliation on September 30:

Truth of Residential Schools was known early. Dr. Peter Bryce told the government in 1907 that Residential Schools were death and disease factories. His report was buried, then leaked in the 20's

I’ll just post this now so that people can quote tweet and mock me when he hits a World Series winning homerun.

My God, so much of this Vladdy, just a little less of this:

Just a timely reminder. This was the first Toronto #bluejays game I attended. A 20 run loss to the Brewers.

Six weeks later, the Blue Jays were World Series champions…

Is there such a thing as a Little League strike out? This might be it. Ball seven… swing and a miss. #bluejays

1,000 years ago, I created a website when a book I was writing wouldn’t sell. It included the unreleased catalogue of The Tragically Hip. 3 bangers, truly great songs, are now available through this deluxe edition here. Hailstone Hand of God is a killer. Gord used to do the “it rains…” bits as rants

This is a mother fucking record boy, let me tell you. All Tom Petty covers for this failed tv vehicle for Vince Vaughn. Marcus King? Larkin Poe? Never heard of em? You really should. And some guy named Eddie Vedder.

Why would it be any different than 1993 when Chrétien gave NDP Official status to ensure Bloc and Reform would not dominate QP? Carney can do the same. Standing Orders are ambiguous. Katy’s thing from her thing today:

Carney will likely be magnanimous here (to be paid back in scorn, I’m sure) and issue an OiC letting him stay, but the ORA does require the resident of Stornoway to have a seat in the House.

When I managed campaigns 8000 years ago, static polls meant you could ID a household once: “those people are voting conservative,” and be done with it. When polls look like this, Libs are checking their NDP ID’s hoping they’ve switched, while NDP are checking their ID’s to ensure they haven’t.

The statement from the PM is a clinic on how to do these sorts of things. Carney opens his book with this same anecdote and writes about how it shook people in room who were expecting something very different:
