Agree with you 100%. But also his idea that MAHA is some “new” movement is dumb too. As a homeschooler, I was adjacent to (& partially bought into) “natural living” in the 90s & it didn’t start w/ us. The diff is back then we wanted the freedom to opt out. Now they want to force everyone to comply.

The 80s was 20 years ago, right, Tim? Right???

Yes! They got me with the pride-themed Del Ray Hardware t-shirt.

Yes! And the new owners are amazing. They just added a locally sourced market to the Garden Center. Got my Christmas tree from them last year too.

There is no way to intervene w/ the current historical designation. Property owner can do whatever they want as long as it complies w/ zoning. DRCA Historical Comm is looking at additional oversight options but no one wants an Old Town level BAR & “strongly recommending” still lets owner decide.

I saw that there was a public notice posted when I walked by. It’s from 1903 & also a contributing structure.

Losing this one will make me sad. But I’ll also be happy to have housing that a new family can actually use.

Wish there was a way to make it more financially feasible to save these houses.

It was a a 1935 bungalow that was a contributing property to the Town of Potomac historical district.

It’s like she made these especially for you, Alex.

And he’s on the shortlist for the Fed.

Took me reading this twice to realize you weren’t talking about your eyes. Time to get off my phone.

I’m sorry.
November 10, 2025 at 4:23 AM
Sigh.

I know. So frustrating as I genuinely like him as a person. He’s just so utterly wrong here.

I was all set to watch Gilded Age & work on my cross stitch this evening. Instead I’m calling senators & having to watch them do really stupid things.
November 10, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Instead of folks blaming republicans they are now going to blame democrats. Because they caved without getting any kind of relief. So utterly stupid.
November 10, 2025 at 1:54 AM
Of course he also knows Kaine’s seat is safe & he’s up for reelection. I’d be more impressed if he got Kaine to change his mind.
November 10, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Trump was surprised that Dems didn’t cave at the beginning of all this. I feel holding out until this week would have caught them off guard & thrown them for a loop. Instead we just bailed them out again. And lost our momentum in the process. Sigh.
November 10, 2025 at 1:46 AM
Fantastic. And from a fellow Alexandrian, if you really want to show that you are fighting for us, then you need to get @kaine.senate.gov to do the same. That would show leadership & that you truly believe what you are saying here.
November 10, 2025 at 1:40 AM
Alexandria resident who is EXTREMELY upset that you would cave now w/o getting any concessions on health care. It’s obvious that a future vote is a no vote without real leverage. So very disappointed that you would waste the real sacrifices that people made to increase the pressure on Republicans.
November 10, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Just called Warner & asked him to let Kaine know too. Sigh.

Well, yikes!
