The hospital where my cardiologist has privileges is looking at closing their maternity ward because of this. I was shocked. People will say it won’t happen, but I’m talking about a major hospital in the suburb of a large city, and it’s happening.

This is something which has been in the back of my mind. Who is going to end up bearing the cost to keep her body going for months in order to be a living incubator? The cost is going to be huge. Is her family, who didn’t want this, going to be on the hook? It’s insane.

I do think the general populace - regardless of their political bent - believes politicians are corrupt. Not nearly enough people personally know their elected officials and can judge whether or not they are responsible people of good intent.

This “disrespectful” shit makes me crazy. Tell a head of State they must come see you to get help. They come. Then insult them in front of worldwide media, insist that they kowtow, and then call THEM disrespectful. It’s mind-boggling.

This is an excellent point. I work adjacent to boilermakers, welders, electricians, general mechanics. The guys who have done it their whole working lives are wearing out by age 60 & sometimes have trouble getting to current retirement age. Can’t imagine adding MORE. They’ll die where they stand.
