Anyone can be bad person, and their work isn’t necessarily a reflection of who they are or their values. Horror authors are a good example of this—they write some really fucked up shit, but that doesn’t mean they condone what they write about.

Whenever a beloved creator is outed to be terrible, there’s this reaction to psychoanalyze their work so one can go “SEE the evidence was there all along” because I think it’s just real hard for people to admit that sometimes people are able to pull the wool over your eyes.
