Walking through the cancer center at Community Hospital- McCook Nebraska, I stopped in front of a framed story about “Charlie,” a peacock who had no permanent home but survived storms, snow, and seasons of change. Each spring, he regrew his feathers—a symbol of resilience and beauty after hardship.
As a healthcare leader, I knew care plans and protocols—but not how to help my child feel strong when I couldn’t. So, my daughter and I wrote Love Is My Superpower—a gentle rhyming story for families facing illness. Even when life feels hard, love still leads the way. 💖 Available Sept 30.

When I was diagnosed with cancer, my daughter Sophia was 4. She didn’t understand cancer... only that I couldn’t play like before & spent weekends in bed. Together we wrote Love Is My Superpower, a story of big feelings, superheroes, & how love helps kids through life’s hardest moments.

When a parent gets sick, kids often feel powerless.

My 8-year-old daughter & I wrote this book, to remind children (and their grown-ups) that:

👉 Big feelings are okay.
👉 Small acts of love make a big difference.
👉 Every child can create their own “Power Plan.”

Launches on Amazon September 30th.

Guess what's launching September 30, 2025? A Book From Our Hearts to Yours

When I became a patient, I was still a mom.
And my daughter, Sophia, still needed a way to understand.

Together, we wrote a children’s book that speaks to the big feelings little ones carry when someone they love is sick.
