I co-authored a patient guide to the ISUOG twin ultrasound guideline with Prof Asma Khalil. It explains recommendations in plain language with why and evidence, and says risk means what could happen, not what will. Read: www.tapssupport.com/ultraso...

Next week I join a panel at Twins Congress in Colombo with Dr Jeanine van Klink from the LUMC Fetal Therapy team to represent multiple-birth families. Guidelines and funders require patient involvement and I’m proud to give a voice to multiple birth parents. If you’re there, let’s connect.

Only parents with true mom goggles can spot the details that make identical twins unique, even when everyone else insists they look exactly the same. The full story is always more interesting. Read more on my blog: stephanieernst.nl/blog/2025...

When I was pregnant with twins, I found Dr Joan A. Friedman’s work and never looked back. Years later, I told her I was a total fangirl. She laughed. Recently, she asked me to read her new book. I did. It’s brilliant. Start here: sbee.link/9bnpgmjfay

You don’t need to demand or go full Karen to get good care. Being direct, asking real questions, and listening gets better results than arguments. Want practical tips for real healthcare advocacy? Read my blog: stephanieernst.nl/blog/2025...

“‘High-risk pregnancy"often means extra care for clinicians, and more questions than answers for patients. Everyone deserves clarity, not confusion. Want to know what high-risk really means? Read my blog: sbee.link/fe3qpycdx6

Peer support isn’t extra. It’s part of care. Our new Infant Journal paper explores how structured, experience-led support can help families facing loss or complications in multiple pregnancy. Co-authored with Sharon Darke & Suzie Scofield. sbee.link/9wmgju6rf8 #PeerSupport #MultipleBirths

Kangaroo care for twins is clinical care. It stabilises vitals, supports development, and helps parents reconnect. It’s wires, tubing, two babies, and a lot of coordination. We recreated it years later. Total chaos. Still counts. Kangaroo care changes outcomes.

Patients in high-risk twin pregnancies are not rejecting care. They turn to peer support to understand it. Good groups do not give answers. They offer context and help people take part in their care. I wrote about it here:

A neurodivergent friend couldn't process a work email. Not because of the content, but due to its formatting. This isn't uncommon in healthcare communications. If your message only works for you, it doesn't work. Read more: sbee.link/n4x396qauk

“𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.”
Still hearing that? It’s not a turf war. It’s the placenta.
Let’s stop blaming babies and start getting the language right.

My work gives me the flexibility to be anywhere. Today, that means the children’s clinic while my girls have follow-up tests for their TAPS diagnosis. It is a constant balance, shifting between work and medical updates. For those juggling similar challenges, how do you manage?

Research funding cuts are putting rare diseases at risk. Twin conditions like TAPS, TTTS, and sFGR already struggle for funding. Without support, families lose access to answers they need. sbee.link/3vkmjyrc4q

Imposter syndrome tells me I don’t belong, but lived experience proves otherwise. I’m not an academic, but I’ve done my fair share of research. Parents of children with rare diseases do the work because we have to. I’ve earned my place in these spaces. Imposter syndrome doesn’t make the rules.
