Too many years in the position (9-10 years) + too many political no-nos = time to go. It’s a pretty normal cycle for us. 85% of the time we vote centre/centre-left (Trudeau), the remainder of the time we vote conservative- and that’s often to just shake things up.

There is a growing, angry sentiment that we don’t want to have anything to do with Trump and co and the ilk. Canadians, across the board, are more united than I’ve ever seen, and it’s against this brand of conservatism. But we tend to keep one party in power for 7-10 years and then switch to refresh
