Why is it ok to do something "unfair" at any point?

"On something". Not "onto".

Nonsense. Market sensitive information is typically released at a pre-arranged time. Not leaked, and counter leaked. Markets are capable of working to a timetable so should be true of the Budget.

Labour need to replace Starmer with a genuinely centre-left leader and new cabinet. No more plastic Tories. So not Streeting, for God's sake.

Luck is the biggest factor in success. Where you're born, who your parents were, which school/university, hence who were your peer group? Then add in race, gender, class/caste, etc. All massive factors in success you have no control of. "Hard work" narrative is survivorship bias on steroids.

How right-wing do you need to be to think the BBC is left-wing biased?

That correlation may be true, but is that a casual link, or does it co-vary with other factors which may lead to them being healthier; eg. vegans may be wealthier, better educated, have better access to healthcare, etc.

Genuine question: I hear the ecological and ethical arguments. But what about biology? Humans are omnivores. Our teeth and digestive systems show that. Also, the archeological evidence shows that we've eaten meat through our existence. We eat far too much meat, no doubt, but is no meat the answer?

Oh wow! That brings back memories. Visited there in 1991. Stunning part of the world.

I remember in the 70s being taught to answer the phone by saying "Darwen 73301", and only recently wondering why we told the caller the number they had just dialled 🤔

And that it's been won by a South American woman 🍿

Patriotism - the last refuge of the scoundrel, weaponising the delusion that the country you were accidentally born in is better than all the others.

Any chance we could stop listening to Nick Clegg?
October 9, 2025 at 8:10 AM
Yep. Those phone backs are going to be a conference call now

Nicely done
