This is becoming a thread the further I get into the series lol

"One Piece isn't political!"

...and yet this absolute diva exists and is a revolutionary hero instead of a villain that current politicians are trying to push right this second lmao

Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

Only finished one book this month because I’ve been locked in on watching One Piece but I’m glad it was this one. It’s been on my TBR since watching the Netflix show years ago.

Just like that, Luffy has become one of my favourite characters of all time…and I’m not even close to caught up on this series.

"One Piece isn't political!"

Well, now I'm at episode 400 and there's human trafficking, slavery and literal political impunity (celestial dragons).

So...

Peep that executive producer. Man had to go and hire himself since his career is effectively box office poison.

Never Whistle at Night : An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology

Features 26 stories written by Indigenous authors. Each one was properly creepy and such a perfect start to spooky szn.

‘Collections’ by Amber Blaeser-Wardzala was one that truly made my skin crawl.

I finally made it to episode 200 of One Piece!
October 9, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Hell yeah Kuwabara. Still my favourite show, even got a figure of him to protect the manga collection.

Izraelis torturing Greta is making headlines but you think if they're willing to do that to her, then what level of depravity are they showing Palestinian hostages?

We already know the answer because it's been buried in stories by Western media...but what is it going to take for it to stop?

disney trying to monopolize on anime now? really?

It is officially spooky szn (as of Monday) and I am starting:

• Never Whistle at Night : An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology

Went to see Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle again and definitely almost cried again 😭

#spoilers (?)

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) by Koyoharu Gotouge

Only ever watched the anime, but after seeing the movie decided to read the entire manga series in 3 days.

Just finished it, so I’m gonna count the series as a single novel since it took me about as long to read as a normal novel would.

Okay, so, Ms. Rebecca Kuang is actually super funny, charming and cool. I’m so glad I went.

Even got a signed copy of Katabasis 💚
September 16, 2025 at 1:09 AM
Anyway, since I've gotten one manga panel tattooed on me (Kurama from YYH) I'm now itching for another one.

This one from Demon Slayer is a very strong contender lmao

Trying to speed-read through the rest of Katabasis now (been ADHD slowbro-ing it since I got it on release date) because I got tickets to see R. F. Kuang tonight for her book tour.

Let's see how far I get lol

All About Love: New Visions by bell hooks

An important read, even if I wasn’t entirely impressed by it. Ultimately, I think it is very much a product of it’s time (hook’s take on Lewinsky was a bit jarring).

The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig

I fear the booktok girlies got me with this one…I was not expecting it to be good but I did end up enjoying it.
August 15, 2025 at 4:20 PM
A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal

Worldbuilding based off Industrial-era London, with a main character who survives violent colonialism…also has vampires and a heist.

This was good. Pacing threw me off a bit in the first half, but still enjoyed it.

Wenjack by Joseph Boyden

Read this instead of celebrating Canada Day. Retells the tragedy of the young boy, Chanie Wenjack, who ran away from Cecilia Jeffery Residential School in Northern Ontario in 1966.

This Ends in Embers by Kamilah Cole

Sequel to “So Let Them Burn” that I read a year ago. Satisfying end to the duology.
July 6, 2025 at 6:04 PM
Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu

This book was a lot gayer than I was originally led to believe of something written 153 years ago. Read this in a day, it was so fun.

The Sword of Kaigen by M. L. Wang

This book was a masterpiece. Start to finish. 10/10. chef’s kiss. No notes.

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

I finally read a book thats been on my shelf since 2021, I’m so proud of me.

Not bad, liked the adventure even if I didn’t care for the main romantic couple (as i do being aroace).

One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad

Barely read during April, but managed to finish this book, which I cannot recommend enough. If you want a gut punch every single page, this one is it.

…yes, I do underline and write in my books.
