Biomechanical abomination from across the threshold of dimension, translator, occasional artist, constant x4 literal facepalm. Not fussed about my own pronouns, will absolutely respect yours.
Well of course, that's what the AT field is for >>;

This is very much an Eva unit in cosplay. "Uh, how do you do, fellow Gundams?" xD

It is a beautiful day in the countrysides and you are a lucky goo.

(Fortune favours the Ditto?)

As featured heavily on the cover of "Straight Outta Tronco", parental advisory for explicit lyrics included.

(The lyrics in question, naturally, are "Shit! Remember it!")

Now there's a glowing endorsement if I ever saw one! ^^

I mean, considering the sheer skill grind – y'know, the whole "swift as a coursing river, all the force of a great typhoon, all the strength of a raging fire, mysterious as the dark side of the moon" malarkey – one can be forgiven for being too distracted by sidequests to do that training montage!

Swarmidge is based on the clouds of non-biting midges that emerge in massive clouds from the Icelandic lake Mývatn. Gnaterminus is inspired by FFXIV's Beasts of the Final Days and its body plan is meant to loosely evoke the structure of an insect's head, as well as a skull and a spine.
November 26, 2025 at 6:26 PM
Despite their massive numbers, very few survive to evolve – fortunately for the rest of the Norrvaloan ecosystem, as Gnaterminus, their evolved form, are powerful and incredibly voracious apex predators, so dramatically different that the two species were first believed unrelated.
November 26, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Swarmidge hatch wingless in the bottom of lakes, eventually developing wings and rising to the surface en masse around summertime. As they are practically defenseless and are prey for many species both aquatic and flying, they rely on sheer numbers to improve their chances of surviving.

Arbithunder is, of course, inspired by FFXIV's take on Ramuh - but also incorporates elements of Scandinavian (and adjacent) thunder gods, primarily the Finnish Ukko and his association with Rowan trees (hence the red berries).
November 26, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Arbithunder's signature move, Bolt Hammer, is a physical electric move similar to Expanding Force, though empowered by Electric Terrain rather than psychic terrain.

Levinome is inspired by (naturally) gnomes, vegetation native to the regions that inspired Norrvalo, and the Sylphs of FFXIV.
November 26, 2025 at 5:56 PM
An ancient Arbithunder once mediated a conflict between the humans who settled near Glasmöntull Forest and its resident Pokémon, making it possible for them to share the forest's bounty sustainably and live side by side. Its long-dead body still stands in the forest, with a small shrine honoring it.
November 26, 2025 at 5:54 PM
Arbithunders often mediate conflicts that may escalate to disastrous ends, and though slow to anger - woe betide any who provoke their tranquil fury, and the justice they impart on those they deem deserving is swift and harsh.
November 26, 2025 at 5:50 PM
Arbithunder, the Striking Tree Pokémon, draws down lightning strikes using their hammers for nutrition and for use in battle. Typically they retain their pre-evos' peaceful, benevolent nature, but their mischievous streak is supplanted by wisdom, experience and close communion with their forests.
November 26, 2025 at 5:49 PM
They rely on their sense for electric fields more than on their eyesight - and while they are largely peaceful creatures, they have a propensity for good-natured mischief and playing pranks on humans, particularly those they genuinely like.
November 26, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Levinome draw their sustenance from photosynthesis, the ground - and electricity which they draw from their surroundings. They store excess energy in a berry-like organ, which they can shed and regrow rapidly to share their energy with allies or to emit a bright flash, distracting their enemies.
November 26, 2025 at 5:39 PM
As usual for Norrvalo, there's some Final Fantasy XIV references in here as well - Valkyroir was partially inspired by the primal Garuda, Vallade is Dragoon-themed, and Valkyrlia has some nods to a particular Endwalker character.

Oh yes, and Valts draws from barnacle goose chicks' kamikaze jumps.

This manifests in its unique ability, Dragon Eye, which boosts the accuracy of its moves by 25% and the damage of two-turn moves with a semi-invulnerable turn (such as Bounce and Dive) by 50%.
November 26, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Vallade cannot fly, but it can leap to great heights and distances. Though it sometimes uses the blades on its elbows, it prefers fashioning elemental energies into spears and pierce its target from above with great accuracy and with the full force of gravity behind its strikes.
November 26, 2025 at 5:17 PM
The three members of the Valts line noted so far have Berserk or Keen Eye for an ability, with Drizzle as a hidden ability.

However, If a Valkyrlia (regardless of gender) levels up while knowing the move Twister, it will take a different evolutionary path, becoming Vallade, the Diving Pokémon.
