It’s me. I am that teacher. Please help me get into the classroom.

I will be getting my Ed.M in TESOL at a time when our immigrant and refugee students are under attack.
Honestly, we need more empathetic, anti-racist, feminist teachers in our schools. Ones that are just as prepared to protect our students as we are to teach them.

It was surreal to experience, with the knowledge of a concentration camp on American soil, and human beings being kidnapped off the street, from their homes and their workplaces.

The fight doesn’t stop. Sometimes though, it looks like joy, laughter and full bellies.

I enjoyed my family & let myself be happy, as a form of personal rebellion against the government. They’re trying to steal our joy, & I will cherish it when I can.

I am cognizant of the great disparity between my freedom to attend such an event and the real-world dystopia knocking at our doorstep.
