For 12 years, Father Solomon, an Eritrean refugee in Greece, was separated from his wife and children.

This #DayOfFamilies, we celebrate their long-awaited reunion.

But with funding cuts threatening legal support, many families may never get the same chance.

“Let us not let our sea (mare nostrum) be transformed into a desolate sea of death (mare mortuum). Let us stop this shipwreck of civilization!”

Lesvos, December 2021

Pope Francis’ unwavering voice for the oppressed—those facing poverty, war, displacement, and loss—will forever inspire us.

Syria’s recovery isn’t just about ending conflict.

It’s about creating opportunities so families can safely return and rebuild their lives.

EU & Member States — now is the time to boost funding and support for reconstruction and reintegration efforts.

Three years since the full-scale war in Ukraine began, humanitarian needs are greater than ever.

UNHCR has helped millions - but more than 200,000 people have been displaced in just the last six months.

With funding uncertainty, life-saving support is at risk. Now is not the time to turn away.

Asylum in the EU is at a crossroads. The choices ahead will shape refugee protection for years to come.

Our call to the Polish and Danish EU Presidencies: managing borders + protecting people fleeing war & persecution can go hand in hand.

"My strength lies in my resilience" is one of the favourite mottos of Ibrahim Al Hussein, refugee athlete in Greece.

It's this resilience that propelled him to compete in three Paralympic Games and achieve incredible milestones in world championships.

How many more lives must be lost before we act?

6 children and 2 women died today in a tragic shipwreck off Samos island.

39 rescued so far as the search continues.

We need long term responses, peace above all, so that people do not have to take these dangerous journeys.

It’s time to stand with survivors.

It’s time to break the silence.

It’s time to end violence against forcibly displaced women and girls.

Join us this 25 November for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and #16Days of Activism.
