It is scary how people don't know the difference between an LLM search engines. Good description I heard was that LLMs imagine a response that appears to fit the query. Sometimes based on reality, sometimes not. And humans have a bias towards information that "appears" correct. Kinda dangerous.

Actually if anything the way they do it makes reviews indistinguishable from paid promotion which is not a great for consumers who rely on reviews to decide what products are worth their time.

yeah this is a totally valid point, especially because most of the time when people review movies/games they are sent a free review copy, which is very different to "I am being paid to make content for this product". So it's an important distinction imo.
