6 arrows. 20 yards. 60cm target face. My all time 🏹 CV with the English Longbow includes 6 national titles between 2010 and 2023 with various governing bodies (AGB, BLBS, EFAA) at this distance 🤷🏼‍♂️

Wedding anniversary trip day 2… lunch in Lymington 😃👍 ferry to the Isle of Wight, scenic coastal road to Shanklin and a very nice holiday rental 😃❤️
I have just lost 21:26 at general knowledge… music trivia tomorrow, so watch this space 😂

As someone who has spent a lot of time 🏹 English Longbows I 💯 agree 😂

Personally I’d favour trial by 🏹 😂 but I “may” be ever so slightly biased 😂

Grateful to be on a trip over the weekend to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary ❤️

Day 1 of our 10th wedding anniversary weekend trip. Portsmouth today. HMS Warrior was an unexpectedly fascinating ship to visit (B was better at ignoring the weather for the photos 😂❤️) and I finally (as a longbow archer) paid my respects at the Mary Rose museum 😃

🏹 at the club indoor range today.
Sometimes things go so well they go 💥
Zoom in on the arrow top left of the second photo…
A good last practice session before our wedding anniversary weekend away 😀❤️

Battling old age and the effects of a flare up of Graves Disease; still 😀 and enjoying life with family and friends and archery buddies 👍

Cheese 😃👍 🍷 🥖 😃👍 🇫🇷
My choice of dessert!

Surely it’s traditional and perennial that one should be prepared to offer the French 🇫🇷 a strong 💪 kicking 🦵 at all times?
As an archer who has shot the English Longbow for many years I feel precedent is behind me here! 😂

I’ve been an archer for 20+ years now, shooting different equipment styles over the years.
Last weekend was my first indoor tournament of the season and it was so relaxed and friendly!
❤️🏹

Uh huh… 😂
(Grandpa makeover day, an old but 😃❤️ memory)

Tremendous mae tobi geri, but I have deep reservations about the 🏹 technique…

I celebrate “happy” whenever I find it in my life and aim to be content as often as possible, trying to find a way of seeing the other side of negativity; an ongoing 66 year project!
November 5, 2025 at 12:55 PM
I read, spend time with family, practice archery 🤷🏼‍♂️ suits me!
November 3, 2025 at 10:03 PM
This was over the toilet in the Airbnb on our last 🇫🇷 trip, it REALLY annoyed me!

💯
If B and I had ever worked in the same local authority she would have been at least my boss, probably my boss’s boss and I ❤️ her for that and so much more ❤️

My son Ollie.
Died 23/12/94 aged 4 of the strain of meningitis for which there is now (there wasn’t then) an effective vaccine.

Over the years I have found that I’m just good enough at several things to appreciate my limitations and be in awe of the truly great performers.
🏹 in a variety of forms is what I’ve persevered with for 20+ years and done best at.

I changed the vanes on some arrows and tried them out for the first time today. The green ones were the original ones, I’d say the change was worth the effort. 20 yards in the first photo and then the 36 yards fan (1🏹 from each red peg) 😃❤️🏹

“Autumn Leaves, a Story of Three Images” 😂❤️

My Norfolk born daughter is half French and her fiancé here, now her husband, is a Nottingham lad with Slovak heritage, how about them? No? Thought not.
October 21, 2025 at 12:01 PM
The same in many fields in my experience… in advertising their open tournaments many field archery clubs refer to “full catering”, or at least bacon rolls and cake! 😂

For a genteel outdoor pursuit of potential utility in dispersing the unwelcome we recommend the elegance of archery. Those of an underhand and conniving disposition may prefer croquet, but that is their misjudgment and loss.
