The whole sequence is book-ended by a shot of the street from the shop at the start and, at the end, a reverse shot of the shop from the street, showing the employee exiting and getting on his bike. So Naruse is still building the space of the house...

The only shots with framing wide enough to link the discussion space to anywhere else are the opening shot, above, which includes the yard, and the last shot of the trio, a new angle showing an employee's intrusion from the street-facing shop to announce his departure for the evening:
