No-one could have predicted it, even the genius political operative that is McSweeney. I can see why the PM values his advice so much.

At least Dredd didn't hide his name, unlike ICE agents.

I have begun to suspect that the PM is so in thrall to his spads that he is incapable of deciding what to have for dinner without running it by them first

My comment was less a defence of Labour, who are heading in precisely the wrong direction, and more a warning about Reform. As bad as Labour are, I am certain that Reform will be much, much worse. I'd even take Badenoch over Reform, and that's saying an awful lot because she's a certifiable lunatic

I think if/when Reform get in we will find out the differences are both noticeable and rather extreme…

The Greens will do well in the locals, along with the Lib Dems, but they won't get enough votes in a GE to stop Farage. There's a long way until then of course, but unfortunately as it stands if we're to avoid a Farage govt (as we simply must) it'll need to be Labour who stop them.

Labour are going to get absolutely annihilated in the locals next year, and they'll fucking deserve it. Unfortunately, with 'geniuses' like McSweeney (Cummings 2.0) they'll learn nothing but the wrong lessons from it and just continue to pave the way for Farage to walk into Downing St.

The BBC is much like the govt in the sense that they have both enormous power and responsibility, and the opportunity to do tremendous good, yet seem not to possess the courage nor the slightest clue about how to go about it
November 15, 2025 at 2:13 PM
Robbie Gibb is clearly an inside man working to either bring the BBC to heel or bring it down. It's incredible to me that he's still on the board when he's such an obvious threat to the corporation.

I hope that both he and the board understand that relegation is a near-certainty, and are looking further ahead than this season. If he keeps us up he'll be a hero, but if we go down I hope he's not portrayed as a villain (w/caveat of improved performances, some wins etc. still being required)

It's a solid choice. He knows the club and the ownership, he's uncontroversial and, at the very least, has a promotion under his belt.
