A software developer responsible for OpenSteel/OS and OpenSteelEnvy. And a YouTuber/VTuber. Likely, things I post here are cross-posted to Mastodon as well. he/him/his.
So, I decided to perform a personal benchmark related to how fast I'm able to edit a video under the modern video lengths and conditions, and across two days (mostly the second day) it took me only ~5 hours.

While there was some pressure, it was only deadline-related.

This is literally the first time I have ever seen the OoBE work with this ISO in about 2 and a half years of using it.

This feels surreal, as I've usually only seen it after recovery media processes. And the sound works.

Wow.

"Windows Update hasn't been able to check for new updates for the last 30 days."

Well, this is a new one. Induced by the fact that the PC has been sitting behind a couch since April.

Update: I finally found a computer that will cooperate with Minix. VirtualBox on my main PC.

MINIX 3.3.0 on 512 MB RAM, 20 GiB HDD, default VRAM and NIC.

And this is why you always test random OSes that you download off of the internet in a VM first, so you don't end up like me in this case.

behold, the monolith of windows xp computers forced to try running minix 3.

This might be beyond Michael MJD levels of things going wrong. When you have two versions of an OS and five total computers which at least 1 version has been installed on.

hopefully third time's the charm

Honestly the first time I've set up my personal Christmas tree in my room with the current layout.

The last time was in 2022, probably due to all the computers I acquired in '23 and '24.

Time to daily drive an old iPad for at least a month.

It's only about as old as my laptop, a ThinkPad T480. And that thing is still easily plugging along with Kubuntu.

I am way too obsessed in working on this project. When I picked up on it back in August, it didn't have a clock or colours or a crash screen. The past month has been particularly intense.

Well that's a benchmark result.

WeRateDogs turns 10 years old today! A very silly idea to numerically objectify dogs has become one of the kindest and most powerful online communities ever. Thank you for joining us over the last decade. I never knew what this could be until you all showed me. Here's to many more good dogs ❤️

First snow since April.

It'll likely be comparable to the time in April.

I replaced my wireless mouse with the exact same model, but wired. Using wired mice with old computers and my main setup for so long has convinced me, the wireless one having connectivity issues also being a reason.

The RGB came as a bonus. I don't care much about RGB (not a gamer).

I know that Halloween is usually the most ordinary day to cosplay, but it just coincided with turning my website into a glassy fever dream.

(This is saved locally and hasn't been pushed to the Neocities yet, it's not done)

Well, it's one year later, and I practically forgot :/

Been a bit occupied with Linux and Windows 98 FE today, give me some lenience
Happy windows 7 day

The things I do to get old computers working…

(not this PC, but one that currently can't boot by itself)

The whole AWS debacle is why I resist using cloud services to this day. I'll just run my stuff on a server from my room. Cost-effective, self-hosted, and doesn't bring down half of the internet with it.

odd to think i've got images i wanted to use for thumbnails that have been left practically unused. This edited-on-phone shot dates back to a week before Windows Vista in 2023 was released.

Current objective: Survive as my PC tries to transfer gigabytes of data to another HDD for the Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade

turned on the wii u, xbox, tv and overhead light to try to produce heat in my room, as it no longer has the same temperature as early 2023.

how much longer before the heater comes on?

Normally, I don't take nearly 50 photos for a video's thumbnail. Now I'll have to decide which shots are the best.
