I’m still reading The Six Wives Of Henry VIII by Alison Weir. It’s a bit of an epic and I don’t want any spoilers 😁

The escape is so I can reorganise my brain and my thoughts prior to getting properly back into my work and routine.
It allows me to compartmentalise again and try to make a positive start to next year.
I suppose if anything, it allows me to quieten the noise for a little while.

I guess the whole point of this melancholic saunter is that many people don’t get the shiny tv advert Christmas. It can be very expensive and can leave a lost feeling and a reminder of what might have been.
Mentally it is tough and I already have an escape planned soon after as with most years.

There are no decorations up at the house because not only am I in the middle of a protracted move, ultimately what’s the point? Nobody is visiting here. I’ll caveat that with that next year I should be in a different place and I will decorate on the off chance my grandaughters will call in.

Maybe I’ll see my sons and grandkids, maybe I won’t but if I don’t actively try to I definitely won’t because they won’t come to me. They’ve got their own thing going on and their own organisation to do with their ex-partners. That’s more important in my opinion than seeing dad.
