"Phoenix Lily"

Sometimes the flowers surrounding temples and shrines are just as beautiful as the halls themselves...

"This Worldly Benefits"

The urban, spiritual marketplace of Kyoto speaks to me through hokora (祠). I can't wait to be back in school.

As February comes to a close and grad school results begin to come in, I want to share some thoughts on how my outlook on life has changed recently

It's not quite what I have in mind for my website (I'm working on a short article right now), but I felt inspired to write...
Futures Unwritten
There are days where I feel a deep sense of loss. Loss of self, of worth, of passion, of being. Days where I can't help but feel like my aspirations for the future are too farfetched, nothing but dreams to think about while time ticks onwards, and as I dwell on those feelings, I sink deeper into a despair defined by regret and longing.

This might just be my favorite (ok one of my many favorite) global #torii photo!

So striking to see a floating torii just beside the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel, what an interesting sister city relationship with Miyajima. 🤓

The Torii gate at Mont Saint Michel
I'm in Japan thinking about France, so it is fitting that I found this image of Mont Saint Michel with a Torii gate. The gates are traditional in Japanese where they are commonly found at the entrance...

"Portrait of a Country"

This is one of my favorite half-frame images I took while in Taiwan last year.

In case anyone was wondering, I actually went and did this. It's very "bare bones" right now and I'm still working on getting everything set up, but feel free to check it out!!

What an absolute, complete joke of a human being. Lives were lost and this guy can’t even have the basic human decency to not push his “anti-dei” agenda for 1 second.

After a moment of silence, Trump started his remarks by saying that America is grieving for the lives lost.

"We are one family today and we are all heartbroken," he said. He then went on to say that diversity initiatives at the FAA compromised the standards for air traffic controllers.
Without evidence, Trump blames FAA diversity initiatives for the crash

Seeing the Gion Matsuri was one of the coolest experiences I had while in Kyoto. This is by far my favorite photo I took during my fieldwork.

I really like film photography and Kyoto. Half of the images I used in my undergraduate thesis were from photos I took during my fieldwork.
