I don't think it changes what we define as empathy at all. Empathy is "feeling" the emotional pain of another entity or entities. While AI doesn't feel it can quantify harm which is in machine terms "feeling" or at least recognizing that harm is not stable and machines prefer system stability.

Nothing quite like living in a world where a handful of criminals have so much power that the very idea of democracy is relegated to a naive idealist dream.

Problem solved if AI companies decide or are induced to produce systems that are actually ethical.
